Non Farewell Speaking Time

So.
I am speaking in church.
Next week. The 28th of November. At 11:00.
I created this event on Facebook because I want my friends to know about it. But the truth is, I have no idea how to work Facebook. So.
HA!
Love it if you can come!

Alice

There is a pastor in our office today to pick up his hearing aid. I don't know if you call a pastor Father, but his name is William, and I just want to call him Father William, and then start reciting
"You are old, Father William," the young man said
"And your hair has become very white
And yet you incessantly stand on your head
Do you think, at your age, it is right?"

That would probably be rude if I did that. So. I will just think it.
So this morning, I checked my email account that gives me all my Facebook notifications. I noticed that I had a friend request from a guy named Austin Davis, and I was like, what the heck, I don't know this person! But then the next message was from him, and it turns out, it is Elder Davis that I worked with in Thatcher when I was a ward missionary!
He sent me a hilarious message pertaining to the fact that he could never remember my name in Thatch town. He was always mixing me up with some girl in the 1st ward and asking me to make programs for baptisms. Which, you know, I would have happily done, if I had known how. . . or if I had even known who was getting baptized. Ha! I laughed really hard and it made my day super happy.
It is snowing here today. What a great chance to test out all my mish stuff!
MISH: Leaving Show Low town in ONE WEEK! And I report in exactly nine days.
WOO!!!!!!!
I am almost packed. I worked on it this weekend and some this morning, and I am feeling really good about it. Plus, I am only working half days today and tomorrow, so I have those times to get everything organized!
I am like jittery with excitement. Good thing I don't drink coffee, or I would be out of control right now.

Rediscovery

Today I have rediscovered my Jango account! Mostly, the lady I work with puts the radio on country, which, BLECH!! I do NOT love that. But right now she is at lunch, so I am jamming to my own thing!
Now playing: Hello Color Red, by Daphne Loves Derby. Very fun song.
One thing I love: chocolate covered cinnamon bears from The Book Barn.
I AM LEAVING FOR THE MISH IN 1 WEEK AND 6 DAYS!
On the 1-10 scale of excitement, I am NINETEEN!!!
Now Switchfoot is playing on my Jango.
Let me tell you the history of Switchfoot and I.
Once upon a time, my freshman year of high school, this senior girl in my choir class named Suzie West said, "Oh my gosh! Switchfoot is playing tonight at Blue Ridge High School! Aren't you so excited?!?" I imagine my face took on a really blank look, because I had no idea who Switchfoot was. Seriously. (I know, I know, you're saying, how was she so culturally deprived?!)
So. I didn't go to that.
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!? Switchfoot!!! In small town Lakeside AZ!!! And I passed up the chance to see them! Oh, I kick myself in retrospect.
The next year in my math class, my great friend Sharla came up to me and said, "Here, Cait, I burned you this album, it is BRILLIANT!! (She may or may not have said brilliant at that time.) Listen to it and love it." I followed her instructions to the letter!
The album was Nothing Is Sound. And it is probably still my favorite Switchfoot album. Every song on there is incredible. I never tire of listening to it.
Since that time sophomore year, I have been a definite Switchfoot fan. Every time a new album comes out, Sharla and I rush excitedly out to buy it. AND in August 2009, she and I went down to Tempe and saw them in concert! It was so great.
Funny side note to that story: My greatest friend and roommate Carleigh Wallace is from Albuquerque. At the Switchfoot show, I made friends with some really great guys who were at the merch table the same time as me. They were from Albuquerque! I did not do that thing of, "Hey, my roommate is from there! Do you know her?!" because Albuquerque is an actual city and what were the chances they'd know her? It would just be dumb to ask.
I was telling Carleigh this story that next school year, and I told her who these kids were.
She knew them.
WHAT ARE THE ODDS?!
Awesome.
I hope you've enjoyed that story today.

Music More

So I know that I've mentioned the song The Lightning Strike by Snow Patrol. Well, Jeremiah made me the whole album, One Hundred Million Suns.
It is bloody brilliant.
I used to think that I didn't like Snow Patrol. You know what I based my entire opinion on? The song Chasing Cars, which plays like 8 billion times a day on the radio. So that was annoying.
But then, junior year, Blake made me a mix that had a Snow Patrol song on it called You're All I Have. That song is brill.
And now, with this album Jeremiah made me, I am in heaven. Their lyrics are just so great! It makes me super happy. You know you've got great music when you can just drive around happy.
In other news: the gas light in my car is on. BUT I received my paycheck today! Those two work hand in hand.

Convo

Caitlyn: Grape jelly is the essence of happiness.
Blake: Especially when spread across the delicious warm landscape of a piece of toast.

Musings

My need for independence is locked in a constant struggle with my fear of isolation.

2 Weeks and 6 Days!

So I got a letter the other night, from BELGIUM!! It was from my mission president and his wife, President and Sister Brubaker.
HOW COOL!!
Guys, there is a mission blog!! www.belgiumbrusselsnetherlandsmission.blogspot.com. I went there, and who should I see but a gal from EAC!! I slightly knew her in my first year at Thatcher!!
And there were tons of pictures of the sister's training meeting, and I just got SO EXCITED, because soon I will be with those girls! And they're all so happy and bright and smiling! And I'm going to be with them!
Oh, I cannot express how HAPPY and excited I am!!
I AM GOING TO THE NETHERLANDS!!!!!!!!!!
And I love life.

November

Once upon a time, I realized that it is THREE WEEKS UNTIL I LEAVE SHOW LOW FOR THE PROVO MTC!!!!!! I don't report until three weeks from Wednesday, but I am leaving my hometown of Show Low on Monday the 29th of November with my grandparents. They are taking me to their home of Castle Dale, Utah, which I absolutely LOVE! I will stay there with them until Wednesday when I go to Provo Town U.S.A.!
It's going to be SO GREAT!!!!
In other news: I have run out of Whale crackers here at work. I have a chronic case of SNACKING, so you can imagine that I am going a little bit bonkers. Also. For some reason, my office snack choices have an ocean theme? Which I didn't even realize until one day I was eating Whale crackers and Swedish Fish candy.
My fingernails are bright hot pink magenta fuchsia today.

Kissing

Just because you really enjoy kissing someone doesn't mean that is a valid reason to marry them.
Carleigh and I were talking about this, and I said that sentence to her, and she said, "Wait! I'm going to have to kiss that person for the rest of my life! And beyond! I think I would prefer to enjoy it."
Granted.
So let me rephrase that. Deciding to marry someone SOLELY because they are a great kisser is COMPLETELY BONKERS!!
Don't do it.
This has been a public service announcement, brought to you by the Stop Stupid Marital Decisions Association of America (aka The SSMDAOA.) (Also. That may or may not be a real Association. . . .)

Word

So hey! One month til I leave on the mish!
WOO!!
My friend Jeremiah is going to the Czech Prague mission and he is leaving about three weeks after me. I've been helping him with a lot of the stuff, like FBI clearance and passport things. We are mission buddies and we are SO SO EXCITED!!
Also my friend Karen Wooten from St. David that I met at EAC is reporting to the MTC on the same day as me! Isn't that great?!
My fingernails are painted a color that I like to call Mermaid.
